James G. Catrett; Chesapeake- James Griffin Catrett, 42, of 801 Colony Manor Road, the husband of Mrs. Ina Oliver Catrett, died Thursday at 12:15 p.m. in a Portsmouth hospital. A native of Walton County, Fla. he was a son of Mrs. Julia Mitchell Catrett and the late John T. Catrett Sr. A retired Navy Boatswain's mate 2nd class, he lived here 16 yrs. He was a WWII Veteren. He was a member of Biltmore Baptist Church and Disabled American Veterans. Besides his widow and mother, surviving are a daughter, Miss Tami Ruth Catrett, and a son, Roderick Griffin Catrett, both of Chesapeake; Three sisters, Mrs. C.A. Busbee of Laurel Hill, Fla., Mrs. M.C. Davis of Chesapeake, and Mrs. Vincent Grippo of Norwalk, Conn., Six brothers, Emmit L. Catrett of Mobile, Ala., John T. Catrett Jr. of Morgan City, La., Otis L. Catrett of Defuniak Spring, Fla., Dykes R. Catrett of Clarke Air Force Base, the Philippine Islands, Roy M. Catrett of Portsmouth, and Gerald C. Catrett of the Air Force Base on Johnston Island; and step brother, Richard Glen Dunnam of Charleston, Sc. A funeral service will be conducted today at 5 p.m. in Snellings Funeral Home by the Rev. T.M. Frye. The body will be sent to Whitner Funeral Home in Bennettsville, Sc. for burial at 2 p.m. Sunday in Sunset Memorial Cemetery.
