Agnes, Grandma, was born to John (Frank), and Anna (Scouller)Purviance on April 19, 1909, in Union Gap, Washington. She received her education in Lower Athanum and attended Yakima High School, and St. Elizabeth Nursing School. She married Charles Earl Austin, on November 10th, 1928, in Yakima. They made their home in Wenas Valley, where they farmed for 18 years before moving to downtown Selah, where they owned and operated rental property. after the death of her husband in 1962, she continued taking care of the rental property until her retirement in 1989, where she moved into Yakima Retirement Manor, at Yakima Convalescent.
Agnes was a member of the Selah Bible Babtist Church, which she and her husband help build.
