James Howard Westbrook

Mr. James Howard Westbrook, age 79 of Kennard, passed away Saturday, January 20, 2007 in the East TX Medical Center-Crockett. Mr. Westbrook was born November 15, 1927 to Samuel and Ora Baker Westbrook. Mr. Westbrook was a graduate of Kennard High School. Mr. Westbrook was a veteran of the U. S. Army having served his country during World War II. Mr. Westbrook was an active member and deacon of the First Baptist Church in Kennard. Mr. Westbrook was a charter member of the Kennard Lions Club, a member of the Kennard City Council, he served as Mayor Pro-temp of Kennard and was also a member of the Kennard Ratcliff Fire Department. Mr. Westbrook was retired from Sullivan Motor Company where he had worked as parts manager and had also worked as a referee. Mr. Westbrook's hobbies included; raising a garden, playing 42, watching sports, baseball, football and basketball and enjoyed traveling with the RSVP groups.
Survivors include: "The Love of his life of 25 years" wife Marie Westbrook, of Kennard; brother Glenn Westbrook and wife Robbie, of Kennard; nephew Steven Westbrook and wife Dayna, of Nacogdoches; nieces Janice Knott and husband John, of Dallas, Regina Fenderson and husband Steve, of Liberty City; mother-in-law Myrtle Kaltwasser, of Crockett; stop-son Jimmy Isget, of Houston; brothers-in-law John Wisdom and wife Tina, of Longview, Boyd Wisdom and wife Barbara, of west Virginia; sister-in-law Betty Yarbrough and husband Gregg, of Longview; great-niece Lindsey Alexander Knott, of Dallas; great-nephews Zachary Knott, of Dallas, Adams Fenderson, of Tyler, Arron Fenderson of Oklahoma City, Okla., Reed Westbrook and Bryce Westbrook, both of Nacogdoches; step-grandson Anthony "Tony" Isget, of Houston, and Jeremy Isget and wife Cristina, of Houston; step-granddaughter Sarah Miller and husband Roger, of Pulaski, Va. step-great-grandchildren Kyle and Chase Isget, of Groveton, Gabriella and Jeremy Isget, Jr., of Houston and Cari Kennedy and Brittany Hylton, of Pulaski, VA.
Preceded in death by his parents Sam and Ora Westbrook; step-son David Isget; and grandson Christopher "Kip" Isget.
Funeral services for Mr. James Howard Westbrook were held Wednesday, January 24, 2007 at 10:00 a. m. in the First Baptist Church in Kennard with the Rev. Jim Durham. Interment followed in the Ivie Cemetery.
