Vernon Schuchardt, longtime resident of San Antonio, entered into eternal rest on June 8, 2003 at the age of 80. He was born September 22, 1922 in Bergheim, TX to Albert and Ida Waiters Schuchardt and served his country honorably in the United States Armed Forces during World War II. Mr. Schuchardt retired from Kelly Air Force Base as a Traffic Investigator after 33 years of service. After his retirement, Mr. Schuchardt became a licensed real estate broker and opened his own realty company, Schuchardt Real Estate. He was the former mayor of Leon Valley for 10 years, and was the director of the Council of Mayors. Mr. Schuchardt was a member of various civic organizations. He was a 32nd Degree Mason with the Masonic Lodge, a member of the Herman Sons Lodge, and was in the Provost Guard of the Shriners Club. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Vernon R. Schuchardt; and his former wife, Gladys H. Schuchardt. Mr. Schuchardt is survived by his son, Robert Dale Schuchardt and his wife Denise of Hondo; one sister, Irma Whitley of Houston; two brothers, Marvin Schuchardt and his wife Evelyn of Seguin and J.W. Schuchardt and his wife Clover Lee of Sisterdale; one step grandson, Matthew Valentine of Hondo; and his former wife, Jewel Donaho of San Antonio; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation for Mr. Schuchardt will be held on Thursday, June 12, 2003 from 5:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North, 3401 Cherry Ridge Drive. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, June 13, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North. Concluding Services and Interment will follow at the Smith Cemetery in Bergheim, TX, where he will be laid to rest. Mission Park Funeral Chapels North.
