Aaron Christopher Von Storch was born September 21, 1842. He was the son of Leopold and Julia Ann Gregory Von Storch. He enlisted in Co B, 143rd, PA on August 26, 1842 for a term of three years. He became ill on October 2, 1863, and checked into a hospital in Germanstown, PA. He was reported as "deserted" during this time. On January 6th, 1864 wrote a letter requesting a furlough of 20 days to visit his home in Scranton, PA. A.C. Von Storch was granted a furlough recommended as 17 days. He returned to duty on February 26, 1864. In July 1864 on the Co. Muster-out Roll, Aaron Von Storch was reported as missing in action since May 10, 1864. A U.S. bounty was issued for $100. The Co. Muster-out Roll indicated that Aaron was missing since the Battle of Spotsylvania. A notation from the War Department, Adjutant General's Office in Washington (11907 - A - 1878) states: "Reported without arrest to the Provost Marshal Pa, September 7, 1863, and was sent to military post, Harrisburg, PA September 8, 1863, date of desertion not stated. Admitted to hospital, Germanstown, PA, October 2, 1863, and returned to duty February 26, 1864. Captured at the battle of Spotsylvania, Va., May 10, 1864, confirmed at Richmond, VA, May 25, 1864 and sent to Andersonville, GA., May 31, 1864, where he died. Died in Andersonville prison, December 10, 1864."

After the war, Aaron was not among the only 12 Union soldier remains taken from Andersonville. There is no named marker for him in Andersonville Prison and he is among the 460 remains buried in Andersonville with the marker inscribed as "Unknown".

The Von Storch family placed a cenotaph for Aaron C. Von Storch on the Von Storch family plot in Hickory Grove Cemetery, Waverly, PA.
