Nina Gertrude Hollis Twiss was the third of seven children born to Theron V. Hollis (1848-1930) and his first wife Lois Ella Skeel Hollis (1850-1915). Nina grew up in Pulaski, Oswego Co., NY, where her father was a retail grocer, and later in Ilion, Herkimer Co., NY, where her father found work in the typewriter factory.
Nina married Freeman K. Twiss of Ilion. Sadly, Nina contracted a kidney disease (uremia) and died in the winter of 1906. Her husband died of tuberculosis (phthisis) less than two months later.
