She was born on Aug. 21, 1923 in Rileyville and was a daughter of the late C. Frank and Rena Irene Abbott Burner.
Mrs. Richards was the former owner and operator of Richards Bus Lines in Luray. She served on the Luray Town from 1978-1990. She was a member of the Rileyville Baptist Church, Edith Rebecca Lodge, Luray Volunteer Rescue Squad, Page Memorial Hospital and the former Luray Fire Department Auxiliary.
On March 11, 1949, she married Marvin Wesley Richards, who died on April 30 1978.
She is survived by a son M. Steven Richards of Luray; three daughters, Sandra Kay Richards Sours-Morris of Staunton and Sharon Marie Richards Painter and Teresa Ann Richards Harlow, both of Luray; three sisters, Margaret Jenkins of Rileyville, Audrey Mae Smith of Orlando, Fla. and Jean Beylor of Fairfax and eight Grandchildren, Brian Keith Sours, Renee Dawn Sours, Christopher Aaron Sours, Tara Raeann Painter, Stephen Burner Richards, Jordan Clay Harlow, John Hudson Richards and Sarah Ann Richards. She was preceded in death by a brother, Arnold Burner.
A memorial service was conducted at 3 p. m. on Sunday Aug. 27 at the Rileyville Baptist Church by Dr. Charles M. Wood and Dr. David Johnson. Her body was cremated.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Luray Volunteer Fire Department, 1 Firehouse Land, Luray, Va.
Arrangements were handled by the Bradley Funeral Home in Luray.
