Following Arthelia's education at Kearney Normal, she taught school in Howard County, Horace, Scotia, and Ord. On August 16, 1915 she was married to William J. Ramsey at Ord. Mr Ramsey was employed at the Beranek Drug Store until 1919, when they purchased the Rexall Drug Store in Arcadia. They operated the store until their retirement in 1962.
Mrs. Ramsey was active in civic affairs, serving on the Library Board in Arcadia for 35 years. She served as president of both the American Legion Auxiliary and Inter-County Federated Clubs. She became a member of the Eastern Star in 1932.
After the death of her husband she moved to Ord.
Survivors include one son, William of Lincoln; two grandchildren, and one great-grandchild; two sisters, Rubye Sperry of Caldwell, ID, Keturah Aufderheide of Ann Arbor, MI; one brother, Harold Lowe of California; one niece Marge Weddel of Vancouver, WA and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
Funeral services were held Thursday, June 5 at the Ord Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Robert Thom officiating. The organist was Freda Beerline and the soloist was Sharon Fuss. Pallbearers were Emmanuel Vodehnal, Glen Beerline, Dayton Hall, Claude Williams, Dave Enders, and Don Walker. Burial was in the Ord Cemetery. Ord Memorial Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to the Ord Presbyterian Church or the Valley County Hospital.
