ANDREW L. "ANDY" NIESE
LEIPSIC - Andrew L. "Andy" Niese, 90, of Leipsic, died 5:50 p.m., Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at the Meadows of Leipsic. He was born August 16, 1923, in Leipsic, to the late August and Martha (Goedde) Niese. On June 23, 1948, he married Etheldreda Knott. She died May 26, 2011.
Survivors include seven children: Dan N. (Judy) Niese of Huntsville, John A. (Frances) Niese of Glandorf, Tom B. (Anne) Niese of Ottawa, William E. (Karen) Niese of Leipsic, Mary Kay (John) Koch of Columbus Grove, Roy A. (Jeanne) Niese of Leipsic and Ann L. (Jim) Berger, Jr. of Ottawa; 24 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren and one on the way; and a sister, Angela Knott of Columbus Grove.
He was also preceded in death by two great grandsons: Alex Niese and Deacon Niese; two brothers: Alfred Niese and Aloysius Niese and a sister, Alice Beckman.
Andy was a lifelong farmer, electrician and carpenter. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Leipsic and its Holy Name Society; Ottawa Knights of Columbus and Leipsic Eagles. He was also an avid card player.
A Mass of Christian burial will begin 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 10, 2014 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Leipsic with the Very Reverend George Wenzinger officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m., Friday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic where a scripture service will begin at 1:45 p.m.; and one hour prior to the funeral Saturday at the church.
Memorial donations may be made to the Putnam County Cancer Assistance Program (CAP) or to the charity of the donor's choice.
