Funeral service for Edwin P. (Peck) Rowell, of Loachapoka, AL, is Saturday, Feb. 14, 2015, 2:00 pm, at Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home, 1500 Frederick Rd. Opelika, AL. Burial is at Loachapoka Cemetery. The Reverends Dr. Ken Jackson and John Weaver are officiating. Visitation is Saturday, Feb. 14 from 12:00pm-2:00pm at Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home. Mr. Rowell, who died Wednesday, Feb. 11, at UAB Medical Center, was born September 9, 1922, in Loachapoka, AL. Mr. Rowell was a noted musician and promoter of country music in the area, having his own band since early in his life. He was honored by the Alabama Music Hall Of Fame in 2014 for his contributions promoting country music in Alabama. At his Blue Creek Club, on Lake Martin, near Dadeville, AL, he brought in most all the big names in country music of that era including Ray Price, George Jones, Mel Tillis, Loretta Lynn, Barbara Mandrell, and Merle Haggard. He loved his family and missed his wife Carolyn, who died in 2004 after a battle with cancer. They were married 59 years. He was a lifetime member of Loachapoka United Methodist Church. He is survived by three children, Patsy Rowell, Tim Rowell, and Ernie (Gloria)Rowell, 4 grandchildren, Mandy (Shane) Filipowski, Jason (Mary) Rowell, Wendy (Chris) Nix, and Andrea (Travis) Merryman. He had 5 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins as well as countless friends. He is preceded in death by his wife Carolyn. parents Walton A. and Belle M. Rowell, sisters Florence Spencer, Annie Lou Nunn, and Lois Daughtry, brothers Howell, Joe, Willie (Teny), Webbie, and Woodrow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his memory to Loachapoka United Methodist or The Wounded Warrior Project. Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home is directing
