Funeral services for George Webb Rowell, Sr., 91, of Loachapoka, AL will be Saturday, February 9, 2008, 2:00 p.m. at Loachapoka United Methodist Church with Reverend Scott Greenwood and Reverend Issac Kervin officiating. Burial will follow in the Loachapoka Cemetery.
Those serving as pallbearers are: Larry Rowell, Rick Rowell, Ernie Rowell, Tim Rowell, Tommy Tatum, and Bill Tatum.
Visitation will be Friday, February 8, 2008, 4-6:00 p.m. at Fredericks Funeral Home.
Mr. Rowell was born May 31, 1916, in Loachapoka to the late parents, Walton Allen and Luvenia Bell Mullican Rowell and died February 5, 2008, at this home in Loachopoka.
Mr. Rowell served his country in the United States Army, 1941-1945 WWII in the European Invasion. He was awarded the Silver Star medal.
Mr. Rowell was preceded in death by three sisters, Florence Spencer, Annie Lou Nunn and Lois Daughtry Britton and four brothers, Howell Rowell, Willie Rowell, Joe Rowell and Woodrow Rowell.
Mr. Rowell is survived by his wife, Winifred Akin Rowell; his son, George Rowell, Jr. (Deena); his four daughters, Linda Rowell Darnell, Deborah Rowell McCord (Allen), Shirley Sue Ward (Douglas) and Janet Rowell Frandsen; his brother E.P. "Peck" Rowell; his grandchildren Allen Darnell (Ashley), Kelly Darnell Knowles (Drue), Jonathan Rowell (Leigh Ann), Matt Rowell, Joshua Rowell, Taylor Ward, Wes D. Frandsen and Nikki Frandsen; his great grandchildren, Jack Darnell and Haley Rowell.
