Indian War∼May have participated in the Civil War, as there were a lot of William Gibbs in various regiments.

He was a butcher by trade.

Enlisted on 15 December 1874 into the 7th U.S. Cavalry. He was in Company K, under Edward Settle Godfrey at the Battle of the Little Big Horn, seeing action on what is now known as Reno Hill.
