Aquila A. Amstutz, 75, of Dalton, went to be with the Lord unexpectedly from a heart attack on Sunday evening.

He was born in Orrville on November 1, 1931 to Albert J. and Della (Gerber) Amstutz and had lived most of his life in the Kidron area. As a young adult he made many friends through 1W Service in Cleveland. He worked at Kidron Electric for forty-four years. Following retirement he worked at Riceland Flow Care and most recently at Buehlers in Orrville. He was a member of the Sonnenberg Mennonite Church in Kidron. Aquila had a heart for missions and spent time doing electrical work in Guatemala and other MDS Projects.

On April 17, 1954, he married Ada M. Geiser. She survives. Also surviving are four children, Eugene (Sharon) Amstutz of Virginia, Faye (Neal) Hochstetier of Apple Creek, Audrey (Randy) Mast and Kris (John) Steiner, both of Dalton; grandchildren, Aaron (Danae) Amstutz, Holly, Karl and Megan Hochstetler, Sabrina (Henry) Schlabach; Valerie (fiance Kevin Leimeister) Mast, Cody Mast, Brian (Annnette)Steiner, Michael (fiance Alinn Ce'spedez) Steiner, Travis (Fiance Kim Magyar) Steiner, and Jessica Steiner; great grandchildren, Shelly, Kyle and Blayne Schlabach; foster-daughters Adrienne of Fredericksburg and Barb (Bill) Courtney of Lima; four brothers, Myron (Gladys) Amstutz of Kidron, Galen (Anna Mae) Amstutz of Millersburg, Doyle (Ella) Amstutz of Apple Creek and Sherman (LaVonne) Amstutz of Dalton.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Agnes Geiser; a brother, Dennis Amstutz; and a foster grandson Jason Ellis.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 AM at the Sonnenberg Mennonite Church with Pastor Mike and Mattie Marie Mast officiating. Graveside services for family and friends will be held prior at 10:00 AM in the church cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday from 1-3 and 6-8 at the church. Spidell Funeral Home in Mount Eaton is handling the arrangements.
