Doyle Amstutz, 78, of Apple Creek, died Monday, Nov. 23, 2015, at Shady Lawn Health Care Community in Dalton, after a year-long period of declining health with cancer.

He was born near Kidron on Feb. 10, 1937, to the late Albert and Della (Gerber) Amstutz and married Ella (Geiser) Amstutz on June 7, 1958, which they enjoyed for 57 years. She survives.

Doyle was a dairy farmer and later a grain farmer and seed salesman. After quitting dairy farming, he moved his seed business to L.E. Sommer Kidron Inc. and became their seed salesman for 26 years.

He was a member of Sonnenberg Mennonite Church, where he served as an usher and trustee member. He also served as a board member for Kidron Fire Department.

Doyle enjoyed working on the farm, being a salesman and meeting new people. Honesty was a priority to his customers.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Ella, are children, Terry Amstutz of Akron, Pam (Ron) Taylor of Apple Creek and Douglas (Patricia) Amstutz of Wooster; a step-granddaughter, Stacy of Ashland; brothers, Galen (Anna Mae) Amstutz of Walnut Creek and Sherman (Lavonne) Amstutz of Dalton; and sisters-in-law, Ada Amstutz of Dalton and Gladys Amstutz of Kidron.

Doyle was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia in 1959; a sister, Agnes Geiser and her husband, Elmer; and brothers, Myron, Aquila and Dennis Amstutz.
