In 1943, he landed on Guadalcanal with the 7th Marine Regiment; later that year he landed on Rendova. In June 1944, he was a part of the invasion of Tinian, Guam, Taipan, and Iwo Jima. He was recalled to active duty during the Korean War but never left the U.S. He graduated from the University of Illinois.
Also after Korea, he worked for Cmagney-Vertiente Surgar Corporation and the Central Hershey Company in Cuba. He also worked for Reynolds Metal Company in Cuba and South Africa.
