She was born March 19, 1921, in Wells County, Ind., the daughter of the late Frank E. and Lula A. (Cole) Sliger. On June 13, 1942, she married Dennis C. Johnson, who preceded her in death on February 7, 2008.
Survivors include a son, Doyt F. (Nina) Johnson of Winchester, Ind.; four daughters, Bonnie L. (Tom) Fiedler and Beverly L. (Michael) Krantzer, both of Fort Wayne, Barbara K. (Jim) Buttermore of McComb and Deborah (Jerry) Gordon of Hoagland, Ind.; a daughter-in-law, Dea Johnson of Van Wert; one brother, George (Norma) Sliger of North Webster, Ind.; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren (with another to arrive in June).
A son, Jerry L. Johnson; two brothers, Dale and Robert Sliger; and four sisters, Nina Blair, Helen Raver, Ruth Johnson and Esther Ross, also preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, May 27, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, with Pastor W. Clark Williman officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Ohio City.
Preferred memorials: The Salvation Army or Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home in Fort Wayne.
