Francis James "Augie" Augustine, 68, Nickerson and formerly of Ellis, died Friday, May 20, 2011, at Mennonite Manor Retirement Village in South Hutchinson.
He was born May 29, 1942, in Ellis to Isidore and Dorothy (Leiker) Augustine. He attended Ellis High School and graduated from Derby High School in Arvada, Colo., in 1961.
He married Betty L. Miller on March 29, 1986, in Nickerson. He was a professional truck driver.
He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Ellis. He enjoyed fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Betty, of the home; a son, Rodney Augustine and wife, Rebecca, Victoria; three daughters, Loretta Akins and husband, Orlin, Hillsboro, Ore., Wanda Augustine, Hays, and Brenda Urban and husband, Steve, Hays; two brothers, Charles "Corky" Augustine, Ellis, and Patrick Augustine, Denver; a sister, Judy Abbott, California; five grandchildren; six step-children; 11 step-grandchildren; and 12 step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Ellis; burial in St. Mary Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Friday, both at Keithley Funeral Chapel, 400 E. 17th, Ellis, KS 67637.
A parish vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested according to the wishes of the family to be designated at a later date.
