Mrs. Rosanna Denning Was Resident of Community For 51 Years

Mrs. Rosanna Williams Denning, 79, resident of Iona since 1887, was dead Saturday after a long illness.

Her death came early in the morning at the home of daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Jennings, at 275 First street in Idaho Falls.

At the same time Mr. Jennings received word of the death of his father, Jasper Jennings, 85, of Pocatello, former Iona resident. Mr. Jennings, who was also well known at Rigby, also died early Saturday morning.

Born in Utah

Mrs. Denning was born December 13, 1859, at Brigham City, Utah, the daughter of John J. and Mary Jones Williams. When a child of eight years she moved with her family to Malad. At the age of 20 she came to Iona and had since resided there.

Her husband, James Henry Denning preceded her in death in 1919.

An active worker in the L.D.S. church, Mrs. Denning served as president of the Iona M.I.A. for 17 years. She also took an active part in the Relief society work for many years. Mrs. Denning was also a midwife for many years. She was known to many throughout the valley as "Grandma Denning."

Surviving her are four sons and four daughters, James H. Denning, John Walter Denning, George Denning, Oliver Denning and Mrs. P. H. Westergard all of Iona, Mrs. C. S. Owens and Mrs. E. L. Jennings, both of Idaho Falls and Mrs. h. E. Ol(a)veson of Rigby. Forty four grandchildren and 43 great grandchildren and the following brothers and sisters also survive: Mrs. Ruth Richard, Mrs. Mrs. D. L. Evans, Mrs. Hyrum D. Davis, Mrs. James B. Harrison, Oliver Williams, George Williams and Arthur Williams, all of whom reside in Malad, and Hyrum Williams of Cody, Wyo., and J. C. Westergard of Idaho Falls.

The body is at the Wood funeral home.
