Joe T. Davey's daughter, Eva, lived in a boarding house with another family from the age of 8 years. In the eighth grade, she quit school, to begin working full-time as a housekeeper. By 1920, she had moved to Beloit, to provide full-time care for her favorite aunt, Laura Tyrer Salladay, who suffered from pernicious anemia.

Upon Laura's death, Eva took employment at the Telephone Company as an operator. She had been promoted to supervisor, when she returned from a trip to Rockford, Illinois one weekend, and this announcement appeared in an unidentified newspaper (probably the telephone company's internal newspaper):

"Miss Eva Davey, supervisor at the Beloit exchange, surprised the Traffic department with the announcement of her marriage on January 22nd to Raymond Poquette, of Beloit. Mrs. Poquette resumed her duties as supervisor on January 24th."
