A copy of Eunice Hawk's obituary from the family collection, contributed by a third great-granddaughter ABF:

"There is no death, what seems so is only transition"

Eunice Hawk was born in Hardy Co., Virginia August 13, 1819 and died at Amoret, Missouri on Wednesday evening October 19, 1910 at 4:55 P.M. at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Anna E. Payton from where the funeral services were held this afternoon at 2 o'clock conducted by Rev. Blaylock of this place.

She moved with her parents to Ohio when she was about 11 years of age. She was united in marriage to David W. Bradley on September 7, 1837. There were 8 children born to this union, two dying in infancy and the other six lived to manhood and womanhood. They are William R. Bradley, deceased, Cyrus N., Lewis M., Sarah J. Bitner, deceased, Anna E. Payton, Mary E. Bitner, deceased; of the six, three are left to survive her: Cyrus N. of Indianapolis, Iowa, Lewis M. of the Soldiers' Home, Leavenworth, Kansas and Anna E. Payton of this place, with whom she has made her home for the last three years.

She moved to Iowa with her husband and family in the year 1861, where she made her home until she came to live with her daughter. She was the oldest of 12 children. She leaves but two brothers of the 12 to mourn her: Vance Hawk of Curtis, Oklahoma and Morgan Hawk of Delta, Iowa.

Besides her children and brothers, she leaves 31 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren and a host of friends. She has been a member of the Methodist Church for the last 50 years and died in the faith she had lived.

She was only sick a few days, taking sick Sunday evening, after she had gone to bed. She was bad for a short time only, but after calling the doctor, she was relieved of her pain and her sufferings were slight until she quietly passed away with a smile on her face.

She told her daughter the afternoon before she died, that she was ready to go and was just waiting for the Lord to call her.

She was 91 years, 2 months, and 6 days of age.

Mourn not loved ones, Dear Mother has gone
No more will you hear her gentle voice
Nor see he smiling face,
She has gone home to God to be at rest
