DELMAS L. YOUNG, 78 of Lafayette, formerly of Fort Wayne, died at 5:44 pm Monday at Home Hospital, Lafayette. Born in Bloomington, Mr. Young lived 47 years in Fort Wayne. He retired in 1968 after 38 years as a math and physics teacher at Franklin Junior High School. His wife, Helen, died in 1953. Surviving are two sons, Michael L., of Lafayette, and Sylvan Keith, of Albuquerque, NM; one daughter, Ardis Rose, of Denver; two brothers, Ralph, of Bloomfield, and Marion, of Bloomington; two sisters, Marjorie Kahl, of Bloomington, and Ruth McClung, of Unionville; and three grandchildren. Services at 2 pm Thursday at Little Union Baptist Church, Unionville, with calling one hour before services. Call also from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm today at D.O. Delmas L. Young, 78, of Fort Wayne, formerly of Bloomington, died Monday at Home Hospital in Lafayette. Born July 31, 1907, in Bloomington, he was the son of Oscar and Gertha (Brock) Young. He was a member of the Indiana State Teachers' Association, and the Indiana Bee Keepers' Association. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Fort Wayne. He attended Indiana University where he received his bachelor's degree in 1934. He was a schoolteacher for 38 years. Survivors include two sons, Michael L. Young of Lafayette, and Sylvan Keith Young of Albuquerque, NM; one daughter, Ardis Rose Young of Bloomfield, and a brother, Marion Young of Bloomington; two sisters, Marjorie Kahl of Bloomington, and Ruth McClung of Unionville; and three grandchildren. Services will be 2 pm Thursday at the Little Union Baptist Church in Unionville with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the D.O. McCombs Maplewood Chapel Funeral Home in Fort Wayne 2-5 pm and 7-9 pm Wednesday, and at the church one hour before services Thursday.
