OBITUARY.
PROCTOR. — Departed this life April 12th, 1876, Mrs. Eleanor J. Proctor. She was born in Tennessee, August 30th, 1815, to which State her father moved from Virginia a short time previously. Shortly thereafter the family moved to Madison county, Ky. After sojourn there of several years, her father, Mr. Hassard Wood, removed to Marion county. Mo., where his daughter the remainder of her life resided. In 1832, Eleanor married Columbus S. Proctor, with whom she lived happily till the day of his death, which occurred July 4th, 1865, since which time she had lived in lonely widowhood, with her daughter. She was the mother of a large family. Five children survive her, all of whom are devoted members of the Baptist Church. Sister Proctor became a Christian in early life, and lived consistent and faithful member of Union Church to life's end, of which Church she was, the writer believes, a constituent member. This body has lost one of its most faithful members, the older brethren a loved associate, and the community one of its most esteemed residents. Sister Proctor was an affectionate wife and mother and a firm friend. She was thoughtful, obliging and attentive to the needy and sick, sympathizing with them in their afflictions and distress. Her church was an object of heartfelt interest to her, whenever health permitting, always attending its services and rejoicing in its privileges. Her pastors received a hospitable welcome and an earnest sympathy from her. Union will mourn her loss and treasure her memory.
