Mr. Blem was employed for 35 years in the purchasing department of Franklin Electric Co. He was a member of the Parlor City Country Club and worked part-time there most of his life, in his youth as a caddy.
He was a graduate of Lancaster High School and was a veteran of U.S. Army service during World War II. He was a member of American Legion Post 111 and the Bluffton Elks Lodge.
He was born at Payne, Ohio, April 16, 1921 to Frank and Fay Anderson Blem. His marriage at Bluffton on Feb. 2, 1947 was to Jean Moore, who died June 17, 1970.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Terry (Sandra) Fiechter of Bluffton; two sons, Allen Blem of Bluffton and Corby Blem of Mt. Pleasant, Mich.; a sister, Eileen Elzey of Murray; three grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and one great-grandchild. A sister and a brother are deceased.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Thoma/Rich, Hewitt & Chaney Funeral Home with Rev. Dennis Wood officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery at Bluffton with military graveside rites by the American Legion. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Wednesday from 2 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 11 a.m. until time for services. Memorials to the First Church of Christ or to the Parlor City Country Club.
