Alan J. Greenfeld passed away surrounded by his loving family at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque. Alan was born in the Bronx, NY, on December 15, 1934, and grew up in Ventura, California. He received his bachelor's degree from San Jose State College and was awarded his MA in Guidance and Counseling in 1961 from the University of New Mexico. Upon graduation, Alan spent several years with Albuquerque Public Schools as a teacher and guidance counselor. Alan entered the life insurance business in the early 60s with Northwestern Mutual Life and retired in 1999 after 38 years with the company. He achieved Life Membership in the Million Dollar Roundtable, a very prestigious industry commendation. He served as a president of Congregation B'nai Israel Synagogue and also served as president of the board of ARC of New Mexico. A lifelong science enthusiast and historian, Alan became a docent at the Museum of Natural History of New Mexico following his retirement where he especially enjoyed working with youngsters until he was unable to continue due to poor health. Alan dearly loved his family, enjoyed nature as well as American and Natural History and Astronomy. He was also a loyal sports fan and particularly enjoyed watching his beloved Dodgers and UNM Lobo basketball teams. He is survived by his loving wife, Judy of 55 years, sons; Ricky of Albuquerque, Michael and wife Judy of Encino, California, and Robert and wife Victoria of Chapel Hill, North Carolina. He is also survived by his four grandchildren; Samantha, David, Elijah, and Marina. He was preceded in death by his brother, Stuart Greenfeld and is survived by his sister-in-law, Aleesa Greenfeld of W. Sacamento, California; as well as, his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Lionel and Barbara Specter of Albuquerque and numerous cherished nephews, nieces, and cousins. Services were conducted by Rabbi Arthur Flicker and Cantor Judy Greenfeld at Fairview Memorial Park.
