Cpl. William W. Beaty, 10th Regiment, Texas Cavalry, died on August 30, 1862 from wounds received during the Battle of Richmond, Kentucky. He is buried in a mass grave in Section H of the Richmond Cemetery.
He was born in South Carolina to Thomas and Roxia Ann (Aly) Bell Beaty. They were in Union County Arkansas by 1850. With the death of their parents the children moved to Van Zandt County Texas by 1860 living with Beaty relatives. William was a salt boiler in Jordan's Saline, Van Zandt County, Texas.
