Bertha Scobee (Harris) married Gamalield S. Scobee on November 8, 1894. They had two children: Mary Ellen and Josephine.

Mrs. Gam Scobee, 88, died Sunday evening at St. Elizabeth Hospital, where she had been a patient since February 5. She had been living at a Monroe City rest home for three years and was hospitalized after breaking her arm. The former Miss Berta Harris, she was the daughter of the late Samp and Josie Harris, and was born on a farm seven miles east of Paris. The farm had been homesteaded by her grandfather Davis with the family retaining ownership since. She was married to Gam Scobee, who farmed east of Paris. After the death of her parents, the couple moved to her homeplace. Mr. Scobee died in 1949. Surviviors include two children, Mrs. Charles Simon, Paris; Mrs. Jim Evans of near Stoutsville; one sister, Mrs. Ora Corkran Roswell, NM; two grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at Agnew Funeral Home with Rev. Jack Kenny, student minister of Pleasant Grove church, officiating. Burial was in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
