WAYNE — Kenneth W. Hartman, 89, of Wayne, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, May 11, 2011.
He was the son of the late Frank and Mabel (Wetzel) Hartman. He was married to the former Dorothy Butler who preceded him in death.
Ken graduated from Sunbury High School and the University of Pittsburgh's aviation cadet program. He proudly served in the Army Air Corps and graduated as a pilot in the Air Force. He retired as a major from the Air Force Reserve.
Ken worked for Lukens Steel and the Borden Food Company for many years, and retired from his office furniture refurbishing business.
He was a life-member of the Reserve Officers Association, and was a devoted member of the Antique Automobile Club of America-Ontelauni Region, and the National Buick Club of America-"Free Spirit" Chapter.
Lovingly known as "Cheeks" to his family and friends, he spent many happy hours golfing and restoring and driving his award-winning antique Buick automobiles.
He was the dear father of Ronald (Sally), Kathy (Susan), Carol (Joseph), Kevin and Karen; grandfather of Russell (Christina) and Lucas; and great-grandfather of Ryan and Lauren; and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Ken's life was held on Sunday, May 15,in the Chadwick & McKinney Funeral Home, Ardmore.
His burial service will be held on Saturday, June 18, in the Lewisburg Cemetery at the "Path of Honor."
