William was married 16 Feb 1863 to Madeline-Eugenia Thomas, born 09 Sep 1840 in Chemong, New York. They had three children, two of whom died in infancy: James-Thomas Pierce, b. 05 Jul 1965 in Waverly and died there 19 Aug 1865; Mary-Gracie Pierce, b. 29 May 1866 in Woosun, Illinois and died there 11 Aug 1866; and Hiram-Thomas Pierce, b. 28 Nov 1870 in Waverly and died 26 Jan 1920 in Manhattan. Madeline died in Sayre, Bradford County, Pennsylvania 15 Feb 1879. William’s second marriage was to Lucie F. Bassett [1843-1932]. Lucie had two daughters from her marriage to Harvey L. Wilson: Edith B. Wilson and Henrietta (“Etta”) Wilson. Harvey, a Civil War soldier, suffered disabling injuries and was admitted to the National Home for Disabled Soldiers in Buffalo on 13 May 1881. He died there 11 Oct 1885. William B. Pierce, 73, Lucie, 63, along with Henrietta, are counted in a home they own at 470 Potomac Avenue in Buffalo at the time of the 1910 Federal Census. Both William’s parents were born in England, and he and Lucie have been married 28 years, so since about 1882. William died in New York 22 May 1913, and his Will was probated 25 Jan 1932, the year Lucie died. Both are buried at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Buffalo, Erie County, New York (Section 12).
