Louisa " Epsy " Tansey Glenn's namesake ancestor, Robert Glenn (1706-1761; born Dalry , Ayshire , Scotland) immigrated from Scotland to Baltimore, Maryland in 1726. Records indicate the Glenn family initially settled in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, where Robert died on the 2nd of November 1761. His son, also Robert Glenn, would migrate to North Carolina; and, ultimately to White County, Tennessee for the 1820 US Census.

Robert Glenn Junior 's son, James, my third great grandfather, had married Mary Oats Clark in Rutherford County, North Carolina in 1804; before, ultimately, migrating to Marshall County, Tennessee for the 1840 US Census. My great-great grandmother was born in Marshall County; and her family moved to Coosa County, Alabama in about 1849, when she was sixteen.

Louisa met John Dorsey Martin and married him in Coosa County on September 22, 1850. John and Epsy would have ten children between 1851 and 1871, and all would be born on their family farm in the historical community of Jordan in the northwestern portion of Coosa County.
