Ellen lived her life as a beloved mother and farm wife. Her husband Robert Isaacs died on September 27, 1903, at their home in Mayetta, Kansas, and was buried in the Brick Cemetery in Jackson County, Kansas. Years later, Ellen moved in with her daughter Nora Isaacs Patton, in rural Shawnee County, Kansas, near the town of Elmont. It is there where Ellen Lister Isaacs died on April 7, 1935, at the age of 79. She was buried in the Keene Cemetery outside of Keene, Kansas, where many of her Lister relatives are buried. Her grave is unmarked, and location is unknown, but she could be buried next to her children Eli Isaacs and Katie Isaacs Robbins (unmarked graves), who are buried next to Ellen's brothers Otto Lister and Isaac Lister.
