He was born in Crawford county, south of Hutsonville. Almost his whole life was spent in this county and he was at the home of his son Ray, south of Palestine, at the time of his death.
He was married to Melissa E. Correll, June 28, 1876. To this union were born 10 children, four preceding him in death, namely, Hannah McCrory, Sept. 27, 1912; Alma Jeffries, Aug. 6, 1918; Maud Jeffries, Oct. 19, 1918; Ross McCrory, Jan. 29, 1920. He is survived by his wife and six children, Bert of Annapolis, Harris of West York, Ray of Palestine, Len of Trimble, Mrs. Glenn Clements of Porterville, and Mrs. Ida Williamson of Hutsonville; one brother Wade of Fairbanks, Ind., 2 sisters Mrs. Nora Musgrave, Minden, Neb., Mrs. Mat Cooper of Terre Haute, Ind., and Mrs. Demaris Layton, Wayne City, Ill.

He was a self-educated veterinarian. People came from all over to ask questions and get treatment for their animals. His children always said he "doctored the kids just like he did the animals." He passed his knowledge on to his son, Harris, who had a natural talent and liked caring for animals.
