Elsie E. Fritz, age 91, of Mohnton, passed away Thursday morning in the Genesis Health Care Mifflin Center, Shillington, where she was a resident for the past two weeks. She is the widow of Lester P. Fritz who died on December 10, 2004. Born in Upper Tulpehocken Township, she is the daughter of the late Herbert P. and Mary Jane Schucker Bond.
Elsie worked as a sewing machine operator for both Custom Sportswear, Reading and Temple Apparel retiring in 1985. She was a member of Zion Evangelical Church, Mohnton and a life member of Berkshire Heights Ladies Auxiliary. Elsie enjoyed cooking and entertaining for family and friends and was always interested in Christian Outreach toward and with other people.
She is survived by one son, Robert P. and wife Donna Fritz of Kenhorst. Four brothers: Wayne H. and wife Lillian Bond of Lebanon, Rev. Arlan M. and wife Mary Bond, Earl E. and wife Sandra Bond, and Richard P. and wife Barbara Bond, all of Bernville. Two sisters: Myrle M., widow of Charles Schlappich of Bernville, and Anna Mae and husband Vernon Speicher of Leechburg. Four grandchildren: Andrew, Bradley and Darrell Fritz and Tracey Smith. There are also four great grandchildren. She is also survived by two daughter in laws: Norma J. Klein, Quitman, AR, and Lenore Fritz, Auburn, PA. She is predeceased by one son, James H. Fritz, and one grandson, J. Todd Fritz.
Funeral services will be Monday, May 23, 2011 at 2 p.m. in the Kirkhoff Funeral Home, 206 N. Main St., Bernville, with the Rev. James Price and Rev. Arlan Bond officiating. Burial to follow in St. Thomas Cemetery, Bernville. There will be a viewing from 1 p.m. until service time in the funeral home.
