She was born August 24, 1906 in Hallock, Minnesota, the daughter of Ole and Betsie Johnson Carlson. She grew up in Minnesota. She married Alfred J Cordes June 8, 1926 in Minneapolis, Minnesota and they lived Eldora until 1956, when they moved to Marshalltown. She was a pastry chef at the Tallcorn Hotel when it was owned by J W Fisher.
In 1971 they moved to Rhodes and in 1978 to State Center where she lived until 1990 when she moved to Des Moines.
She was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church and the Moose Lodge in Iowa Falls.
Survivors include a son, Darrell Cordes, Fort Morgan, Colorado; three daughters, Colleen (Mrs Adolph) Morse, Bentonville, Arkansas, Beverly (Mrs James) Harms, Decorah and Evelyn (Mrs Rudy) Alcorta, Clive; eight grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1983.
