Fay Blumenthal was born to Louis Blumenthal and Rose Katz Blumenthal, both natives of Poland. They emigrated to the United States in 1888. Louis was the proprietor of a shoemaking shop in Philadelphia. Fay had three siblings: Gertrude, Viola, and Milton. She married Nathan Frankel and they resided in Atlantic City, NJ. She was the mother of five children: Vera, Harvey (who died in infancy), Alvin, and twins Daniel and Rhoda. She died in 1946 from complications of diabetes.
