Funeral services for Chris A Anderson, 74 Ranch Drive, will be at 2 pm Friday in the First Christian Church with Dr Bill Masters, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery under direction of Grace Memorial Chapel. Anderson died Tuesday morning in St Joseph Medical Center. Born April 1 1883, nine miles south of Russell KS, on Sullins [Sellens] Creek at the Anderson homestead, he was the son of Christopher and Mary Anderson.
Educated in Russell schools, he moved in 1907 to his uncle Henry Anderson's farm in the Bar L Ranch area and as a young man worked as a cowboy for the 1010 Ranch. For a time he was US Deputy Marshall for North Central Oklahoma. He was a veteran in WW1 and married Frances R Bressie on Sept 21 1919 in Perry. They established their home on a farm in the Bressie Community and he farmed there for 46 years. In 1954 the couple moved to the home on Ranch Drive. Frances Anderson died Aug 21 1962.
On Dec 19 1962, he married EIma Jensen in Olathe, KS and they established their home at the Ranch Drive address. For many years Anderson did lawn service work and in 1968 the couple went into the antique business, opening Collectors Trading Post at their home. When Anderson was 71, he took up bowling as a hobby and was active in the Mens Bowling League until he was 81. He became a member of the First Christian Church on April 19 1959, and was a member of the Men's Bible Class. He was a charter member of the After Five Lions Club and was an eye donor. He was also a charter member of the American Legion Huff-Minor Post #14 and had received his 50-yr pin.
Surviving are his wife, of the home; two sons, MC "Andy" Anderson of Oklahoma City, and Rexford N Anderson of Houston; a daughter Gloria Jean Young, Grand Junction CO; two stepsons, Dr TD Jensen of Wycoff NJ, and Kenneth J Jensen, Mankato KA; a stepdaughter Mrs Robert (Shirley) Billiar, South Sioux City NE; a brother Arney of Russell AK; a sister Tora Rock, Hutchison; 19 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and first wife, he was predeceased by four brothers and a sister. A memorial may be made to a favorite charity by friends who wish to honor Anderson's memory. The family will be at the home on Ranch Drive.
