Named for her Grandmother, Carolina Zarnt Sievert, "Carrie" grew up with the experiences of working around the family's Hotel business in Eldridge, Iowa. There she met her husband Fred who was a veterinarian in that Community.

She was a strong homemaker who managed the affairs of the family well after the accidental death of her husband. She raised her daughters, Verna and Ruth (Mrs. Leonard "Cotton" Urban) in Davenport and lived there until her passing.

Carrie and her husband Fred are buried in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery near the Bell Tower.
