Marilyn McCurry — beloved Mom, Grandma, Great-Grandma, sister and friend — passed away suddenly on April 26, 2010 at age 70 in Vernal, Utah.
Marilyn was born Sept. 12, 1939 to Marvin G. Jackson and Anna Aretta Smuin Jackson in Uintah County, Utah. She grew up in Davis Ward (Frog Town) surrounded by siblings and beloved cousins, and on the family farm at Big Brush Creek, riding horses and rolling peas off of the shed and catching them in her mouth. Waiting for Dad and Mom to head to town and as soon as they were around the bend, she and her sidekick/brother Brent would head out to swim in the creek. For Marilyn's whole life her best friends were her brother and sisters.
Then she moved on to raising kids and working as a waitress for many years in Roosevelt at the Frontier Grill and in Vernal at the Crack'd Pot and The Sage restaurants. In her later years Marilyn took wonderful care of her parents; when her Mother passed away, she moved in with her Father to make sure he was cared for and wasn't alone. Marilyn's hobbies were crocheting, the Internet, downloading classic country music, Wal-Mart and flowers, with a love for roses and irises. We will miss her dearly, but know she is out of pain and with her beloved Mama and Daddy, and will be waiting to welcome us when we go home.
Marilyn is survived by her sister, Marva (Dick) Kelly of Desert Hot Springs, Calif.; sister, Shirley Smith of Vernal; brother, Brent (Kathie) Jackson of Vernal; sister, LaJeanne (Tim) Slaugh of Vernal; sister, Linda (Errol) Johnson of Vernal; son, Ronnie (Angie) Harflinger of Vernal; daughter, Lauri Miller of Vernal; son, Curtis (Karla) McCurry of Vernal; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was proceeded in death by her Mother and Father.
Services are pending under the direction of Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.
