Minnie Amerman Bond and her family resided in Camp Alto, a mining camp in the hills above Rio Rico, Santa Cruz County, Arizona. The sad tale is that one day while traveling on horseback to visit a neighbor a bolt of lighting killed her and the horse she was riding. Her son who was traveling with her was not struck and had to carry the tragic news back home.
