Amanda was the youngest of 11 children. At age 21, she married on July 1, 1868, to a widower, David Courtney Dale (1827-1905), who had one son, Edward G. Dale (1864-1946). David & Amanda were members of the North Liberty Presbyterian Church. Amanda gave music lessons; her melodeon is on display in the Mercer County Historical Museum at Mercer, PA (at least it was there in 1963 when I visited). Amanda died at the Dale farmstead 2-1/2 miles south of Grove City. At 3 o'clock, she had gone out to a nearby field to look after a flock of turkeys about 200 yards from the house; her body was found soon after this hour. One son: William Coulter Dale.
