FROSTBURG,MARYLAND -- James Joseph Arnone, 86, of Frostburg, died May 15, 2011 at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.

Born Oct. 4, 1924 in Eckhart Mines, he was the son of the late Michael and Lucy (Fabbri) Arnone. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Pauline; one daughter, Christine; one grandson, Michael McKenzie; one sister and brother-in-law, Rose and Donald McKenzie; and a brother, Arnold Arnone.

Mr. Arnone was a retired letter carrier of Frostburg. He also worked at the Au Petit, Celanese Corp., Kelly Springfield, ABL, and for 12 years at the Durst Funeral Home.

James was a devout member of Saint Michael's Catholic Church in which he sang with the choir and served on the parish council.

Mr. Arnone served his country as an Army veteran of World War II with the 278th Field Artillery Division and a member of the American Legion Farrady Post 24.

James was a devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He is survived by four sons, William and wife Sharon, Cresaptown, James and wife Carol, Ridgley, W.Va., Robert and wife Mary, Brownsboro, Ala., Regis and girlfriend Marcela, Vienna, Va.; three daughters, Rosemary McKenzie and husband Bill, Manchester, Philomena Zapf and husband Bill, Cumberland and Kathleen Arnone, Owens Crossroads, Ala.; a brother, Sam and wife Delores; two sisters, Joan Brewer and Linda Arnone; sister-in-law, Virginia Arnone.

Also surviving are the grandchildren and their families, Katrina and Sean Opel, Dylan and Chase; Lynn Hovatter. Seth and Rylee; James and Barbara Arnone and Katelyn; Tricia Arnone; Rebecca and Andy Clark, Sydney and Ryan; Kevin McKenzie; Marc Arnone; Leah and Ryan Burch, Gianna and Jackson; Steve and Michelle Logsdon, Katelyn and Joelle; Matt and Shala Logsdon; Stefanie and Kenny Liller and Madison; and Justin Horn; and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Mr. Arnone wanted to thank all his mail patrons who treated him so well.

Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Michael's Catholic Church on Thursday, May 19, 2011 at 11 a.m. with Fr. Greg Chervenak O.F.M. Cap. as celebrant.

Interment will be at St. Michael's Cemetery following the services.

In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to St. Michael's Catholic Church, 44 East Main St., Frostburg, MD 21532.
