John Lahey
It is probably not generally known that one of the oldest, if not the oldest, person in this vicinity is a resident of this city. We refer to John Lahey, Sr., who lives in the second ward, and who gives his age at 99 years. Mr. Lahey is a well preserved old gentleman, and looks as though he may add several years to his record yet, before Father Time shall summon him home. [Anhapee Record, 19 June 1890]

Death of a Centenarian
John Lahey, probably the oldest man in this county, died of old age at his home in this city on Sunday morning.
Mr. Lahey was a native of County Cork, Ireland. He came to this country in the year 1835, first settling in Massachusetts, from which state he removed to Sheboygan, Wis., in 1855. In 1865 he moved to the last named city to Two Creeks, in Manitowoc county, where he resided until 1888 when he came to Ahnapee, and this city has since been his home until his death.
Mr. Lahey was the father of five children, four of whom, three sons and one daughter, are still living. Four of his sons were soldiers in the Federal army during the war, and one of them never returned. Of his living children, the daughter, Mrs. James Flynn, lives in Chicago; one of the sons, John, resides in this city; another son, Thomas, lives at Two Creeks in Manitowoc county, and the other son, Edward, is at the Soldier's Home in Milwaukee. Mrs. Lahey, widow of the deceased, who resides in this city and is about 86 years of age, is nearly prostrated by the deep sorrow she suffers in the loss of the husband in whose society she had passed years enough to make an ordinary lifetime.
Mr. Lahey came of a long lived family. His mother lived to be 104 years of age, while others of his ancestors lived to turn the century point of live. One of his sisters, Mrs. Doyle, now residing at Sheboygan, is about 86 years of age. Deceased was aged 101 years.
The funeral, which took place last Tuesday from St. Mary's Catholic church, in this city, Rev. Fr. Cipin officiating, was largely attended. [Anhapee Record, 25 Feb. 1892]
