Mrs. Emma Theobald Spendlove, 78, Hinckley resident of 73 years, died in a Provo hospital Sunday of natural causes.

She was born Sept. 18, 1883, in Salt Lake City, a daughter of pioneer parents, Arthur and Jane Burgess Theobald. Her early life was spent in Dixie at Duncan’s Retreat, where her family helped settle the county. They were later first settlers of Hinckley, when she was a girl of five years.

She attended grade school and the old BYU High School at Hinckley. She was married to Joseph E. Spendlove April 5, 1900, in the Salt Lake Temple, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Their home was made in Hinckley.

Mrs. Spendlove was an active LDS member, had served as president of the Primary, in the presidency of the Relief Society, and visiting teacher for the Hinckley Ward.

She is survived by eight of her eleven sons and daughters; Glen T., Tooele; Mrs. Aroet (Reva) Taylor, Mrs. Rodney (Wynnie) Wright, E. Blaine, all of Hinckley; Ward, Tooele; Floyd A., Bountiful; Arthur M., Ogden, and Nellie LaRae Spendlove of Hinckley; 20 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, T. George Theobald, Hinckley.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the Hinckley Ward Chapel by Bishop
