John Lewis Pounds, 75, of 3920 Ninth-ct, S, died today at a local hospital.
A native of Iowa, Mr. Pounds was for many years a wholesale shoe salesman. He traveled the Alabama territory 50 years.
Mr. Pounds was a member of First Methodist Church and at the time of his death was an honorary member of the official board. He also was a 32nd degree Mason.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Virginia Lawson Pounds; a daughter, Mrs. William Bestor Brown, the former Mary Virginia Pounds, of Birmingham; and a sister, Mrs. Willis Roberts of Dunlap, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 11 a.m. at Johns-Ridout's Church Chapel with Dr. Denson Franklin officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood.
