Jeremiah Burgin Farris was a son of George Farris and Evaline (Mccown) Farris of Rockcastle Co, KY. He was born in the "Negro Creek Section" of Rockcastle County, Kentucky in 1845, the 6th of 8 children. He married Susan Harriet Debord in 1866. They had 10 children: William Russell Farris 1867-1920, Allis A. Farris 1869-1870, Mary Ellen (Farris) Wallin 1871-1938 (wife of Jesse Wallin) , Luther Crawford Farris 1874-1948, Morris Joseph Farris 1876-1936, Elizabeth Farris 1878-1878, Hellen Conn (Farris) Bordes (wife of Julian Bordes) 1880-1935, Edward Francis Farris 1884-1960, Grover C. Farris 1886-1904, and Lillian Mae (Farris) Owens 1888-1949 (Wife of Woodyard J. Owens). During his life he was known to have owned a farm, small ranch, and a small mill in the Negro Creek area of Lincoln and Rockcastle Counties as well as a store near Brodhead. He died at his home in Rockcastle County Kentucky in 1915. Rev. A. J. Pike conducted his service. He was interred at Brodhead Christian Church Free Cemetery, Brodhead, Rockcastle County Kentucky.
