MOORESVILLE -- Mr. Efird, 74, of Fieldstone Road, died Tuesday, October 21, 2003, at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center, Mooresville. Born July 8, 1929, in Albemarle, NC, he was a son of the late Euclid Kerby and Dorothea Harrington Efird. Mr. Efird was retired produce manager for Harris-Teeter Grocery having 38 years of service. He was a US Navy veteran having served in the Korean Conflict. Mr. Efird was a flight director on the USS Bairoko. He was a longtime, active member of Fieldstone Presbyterian Church, Mooresville, where he was awarded Elder Emeritus.
Mr. Efird is survived by his wife of 49 years, Nancy Beaver Efird; children, Karen Efird Ledbetter and husband, James, of Mooresville, and Mark Baine Efird, of Charlotte; and a granddaughter, Sarah Ledbetter.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Friday, October 24, 2003, at Fieldstone Presbyterian Church, Mooresville, with Rev. Carol Jackson officiating. Burial will follow at Glenwood Memorial Park, Mooresville. The family will receive friends from 7 - 8:30 PM, Thursday, October 23, 2003, at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, Mooresville.
