Arthur Emil Loutsch, 86, of Remsen, died Thursday, July 29, 2010, at Happy Siesta Health Care Center in Remsen.

Art was born Nov. 1, 1923, at rural Remsen, the son of Dominic and Catherine (Niehus) Loutsch. He was raised and eduacted in the Remsen area. He attended both rural school and graduated from St. Mary's Catholic School in Remsen. He then farmed with his father and brothers.

On Feb. 1, 1951, he married Dorothy Schmidt at Holstein. the couple made their home near Remsen where they farmed until retiring in January 1990, and then they moved into Remsen. Dorothy died Feb 17, 2002.

Art was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Remsen, Knights of Columbus, and was also a past member of the Remsen Golf Course Board.

Art enjoyed farming, golf, and playing cards.

Survivors include one son, Steve Loutsch and his wife, Rose of Remsen; one daughter, Jane Anderson and her husband, Thomas of Harrisburg, D.D.; seven grandchildren, Jason Loutsch and his wife Stephanie, Kendra Loutsch, Karen Behrens and her husband, Jon, Kayla Loutsch and her fiance, Nick Maiers, Tara, Cory and Kelli Anderson; four great-grandchildren, Carson, Parker and Cooper Loutsch, Finley Behrens; three brothers, Vernon Loutsch and his wife Marjorie of Le Mars, Dale Loutsch and his wife, Joyce, Paul Loutsch and his wife LaVonne, all of Remsen; four sisters, Norma Sheehan Tentinger of Remsen, Kathleen Groepper of Ames, Colette Wright and her husband, Farrell of Moville, and Alice Seuntjens of Kingsley; one sister-in-law, Mary C. Loutsch of Remsen; and one brother-in-law, George Schmidt of Twon Falls, Idaho.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, John Loutsch and his wife Cleo, and Gene Loutsch; one sister, Delores Groepper and her husband, Alvin; and four brother-in-laws, Leslie Sheehan, Emmert Tentinger, Kenneth Groepper, and Michael Seuntjens.

Funeral service were 10:30 a.m. today (Monday) at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Remsen with the Rev. William McCarthy, Msgr. Nicholas Ruba and Deacon Rick Roder officiating. Burial was in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Remsen. Visitaion was anytime after 2 p.m. Sunday. There was a parish rosary at 3 p.m., a vigil prayer service at 7 p.m. followed by a Knights of Columbus rosary all at Fisch Funeral Home & Monument in Remsen.
