E. H. Reynolds Dies at 77
Edward H. Reynolds, 77, a former Pownal road commissioner and well known dairy farmer, died Monday at Putnam Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. He was born in Pownal Aug 10, 1880, son of the late Frederick A. and Sarah B. Phelps Reynolds.
His education had been received in Pownal and he had been engaged in dairy farming practically all of his life. He was twice married, first to Cora Abrams. His second marriage was to Lillian Dean, who died in 1942.
Survivors are two sons; Carl E. Reynolds, Bennington and John A. Reynolds of Barneveld, N.Y.; one daughter, Mrs. Gene (Dorothy) Sourlock, Mt. Rainer, Wash.; two sisters, Mrs. Raymond (Florence) Ransom, Rutland, Vt., and Mrs. Louis (Bessie) Contois, Cheshire, Mass.; two grandchildren, Mrs. Richard Kruse, East Syracuse; and Claude E. Reynolds, Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho; one great grandson, William J. Kruse, East Syracuse; one niece, Mrs. Charron Dozois, Livingston, N.J., and one nephew, Dr. Philip Ransom, St. Johnsbury.
The funeral will be held from Mahar Funeral Home Wednesday at 2 pm with the Rev. L. Burtin Main, First Methodist Church pastor, officiating. Burial will take place in the family lot in Oak Hill Cemetery, Pownal.
