Sr. Mary Annette Bocke, O.P. of the Dominican Sisters of Springfield, was born Antoinette Bocke. She was the daughter of Bernard "Barney" Bocke and Emma Katherine (Hacker) Bocke. She took her vows on August 4, 1936 at Sacred Heart Convent in Springfield. For many years she taught high school throughout several schools in Illinois including Sacred Heart-Griffin in Springfield and Marion High School in Chicago Heights. Sr. Annette celebrated her 75th jubilee in May 2011.

She joined the Springfield Dominicans in 1934. Sister M. Annette is fondly remembered by many of her former high school students from Sacred Heart Academy/Sacred Heart-Griffin High School, Springfield; Marian Catholic High School, Chicago Heights; St. Paul, Odell; St. John, Carrollton; Routt Catholic High School, Jacksonville; and St. Augustine, Richmond, Mich. She taught English, French, Latin, Spanish, journalism, history and/or theology.
Sister M. Annette was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Joseph, Anthony, and Al; and three sisters, Marie Beger, Gertrude Morris and Hildegard (Gil) Ristenpart. She is survived by her sister, Sister Elise Bocke, OP, of Springfield; and nieces and nephews. The funeral Mass was held May 17 at Sacred Heart Convent in Springfield, with Father Peter Witchousky, OP, presiding. Final commendation was May 18 at Sacred Heart Convent with burial at Calvary Cemetery.
