MONTPELIER - Virginia Erminnie Garner Anderson, 74, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 21, 2005, at her home in the Spring Creek Manor in Soda Springs, Idaho. She was born December 11, 1930, in Sugar City, Idaho, to Frederick William and Viola Henrietta Flint Garner. She was one of four children born to them, having three brothers, William Faye (Bill), Lloyd Flint and Ralph Lynn Garner. Virginia's family moved to St. Anthony prior to her attending school, and she received her education in St. Anthony, graduation in 1950.

Virginia married Kent Rand Anderson on Feb. 1, 1950, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Born to this marriage were two children, Kent Rand Jr. (K.R.) and Kathleen (Kathy).

Grandma Ginny, as we all called her, had a zest for life and lived it to the utmost until her passing. She worked hard her whole life and accomplished many great things. The strong will and faith that she possessed helped her through many challenges in her life with trials, the last of which was multiple sclerosis. Anyone who met her was immediately her friend, and she had many wonderful, faithful friends for 74 years.

Grandma had many talents; she was an organizer and a hard worker. She did hand-work, enjoyed crafts and was a talented seamstress, sewing her children's clothes as well as her own. Her many accomplishments would fill a book.

She worked at different jobs all of her life, and was the editor of the Aberdeen Times for 29 years, a job which she was dedicated to and loved.

Grandma Ginny lived in St. Anthony, Moore, Arco, Boise, Parma, Idaho Falls, Aberdeen, Blackfoot and recently moved to be closer to her family when her failing health didn't allow her to live alone any longer, living in Montpelier and then in Soda Springs, when she passed away.

She was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints her entire life, and held many positions in the Primary, Relief Society and Sunday school. Grandma had faith that could move mountains, and remained true and faithful, enduring to the end.

Virginia's husband, Kent, preceded her in death in 1989, and also her brother, Bill. She is survived by her two children, K.R. and Pat Anderson of Phoenix, Ariz., and Kathy and Drue Smith of Georgetown, Idaho; six grandchildren, Doug and K.C. Anderson of Phoenix, Jeffrey and Emily Smith, Jody and Amber Smith and Jackie Smith, all of Georgetown, Kelly Smith and Cole Smith of Logan, Utah; seven great-grandchildren, Shawnee, Bailee, Kaleb, Macadee, Shayla, Jenna, and Taylar Smith; two brothers, Lloyd and Belva Garner of Roosevelt, Utah, Ralph and Ann Marie Garner of Phoenix; a sister-in-law, Jeri Garner of St. Anthony; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Bern and Muriel Anderson of Challis, Ella Anderson of Pocatello, Barbara Anderson of Bountiful, Utah, and Carol White of St. George, Utah.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, Aug. 24, at 1 p.m. in the Aberdeen Second Ward LDS Chapel, where friends may visit with family that morning from 11 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. The interment will be in the Ammon Cemetery.
Services are under the direction of Matthews Mortuary of Montpelier.
