"LEONARDSVILLE - This community was shocked and saddened Friday morning, August
13th, when it learned of the sudden death of Mrs. Beatrice Talbot Alger, in her
home following a heart attack. Mrs. Alger was found dead on the kitchen floor
of her home at 9:30 a. m. by her little granddaughter, Patricia Alger, aged
seven years. Patricia who lives on the street adjoining that on which her
grandmother lived had previously visited her grandmother almost an hour before
and found her apparently in her normal health and preparing breakfast. Mrs.
Alger was born in the town of Brookfield, the daughter of Henry Clay and Adelia
Palmiter Talbot. She attended school in North Edmeston and the Union School in
Burlington Flats ... Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Floyd Larrabee, New
Berlin and Mrs. Joseph Brasee, Woodside, L. I.; two sons, Paul, Leonardsville
and Ward, Edmeston; two grandchildren, Lieut. Dwight Larrabee, Washington, D.
C., and Patricia Alger, Leonardsville; one sister, Mrs. Bernice Hull,
Garrattsville; two brothers, Melvin Talbot, West Burlington and Ebenezer C.
Talbot of Leonardsville; also two half brothers, Lafayette Talbot, Elmhurst, L.
I. and Adelbert Talbot, of West Winfield ... Burial was in the family plot in
Union cemetery, Edmeston." ["The Otsego Farmer & Republican" (Cooperstown, NY),
